Our technical design and assurance services help you to define the solution goals you are trying to achieve as the 'B point'. For any business faced with the need to change - and that applies to most - it is vital to have a clear and articulate definition of the end point of the journey.
What is the desired 'B point'? What degree of specification of the technical solution is required?
In our experience, in order to succeed in getting to the 'B point', businesses need:
- A Plan
- A Solution
- An Approach
We help our clients to establish technical plans correctly and ensure that they are 'technically informed'. We work with our clients to ensure that plans reflect the required solution and the approach to getting that solution in place.
Technical solutions must be assessed asking the key question, 'will it work?' - this means meeting both functional and non-functional requirements. It also means, 'can we operate it?' - and this means have we correctly defined the IT processes, tooling, skills and management information required to deliver service.
We also look that the technical solution is properly described. Often we find technical solutions that are 'down in the weeds' with no clear big picture. Solutions must be described in various levels of detail:
- Level 1 - conceptual level such that everyone can understand the business and IT architecture
- Level 2 - sufficient detail to be able to engage suppliers with a clear specification
- Level 3 - sufficient detail to be able to configure and install the required technical components
The approach to the job is often wrapped up in 'ologies'. We cut through those and choose the right tools and techniques for the job. We adapt methodologies to suit the purpose of the job and harness the best of these to secure the required outcome.
We also help our clients to establish better technical controls and to set a clear technical direction by bringing to bear our experience in industry standard design authority techniques.
